Job summary

TransMedics, Inc. is seeking an OCS Specialist to maximize the use of the OCS for organ retrieval and transport. You will train across organ platforms, support organ preservation and transport, and assist with lab trainings and R&D activities at various sites.

The role requires flexibility, willingness to travel, and strong collaboration with hospital staff. Base salary ranges with comprehensive benefits and potential bonuses are provided, with relocation to Somerville, MA planned by 2028.

Qualifications

• BSN or BS degree with 2+ years' experience in ICU, ECMO, Cath Lab, OR, Transplant, and ED.
• Willingness to travel and support sites within/across regions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and virtual meeting platforms.

Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

The OCS Specialist maximizes and supports the use of the OCS for organ retrieval and transport prior to, during and after transplantation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

• Completion of rigorous hands-on training and OCS certification across all organ platforms at
• TransMedics' training facility in Andover, MA.
• Apply OCS knowledge during organ retrieval, preservation, transport, and assessment according
• to TransMedics protocols and policies.
• When not on OCS call days, perform assigned tasks during standard working hours, either
• remotely from home or as assigned, including but not limited to:
• Managing inventory & shipments on a weekly basis
• Assist with Lab Trainings
• Participate in R&D activities in lab
• Assist with establishing launch points
• Participate in medical and scientific conferences and meetings (inside or outside the US)
• Communicate regularly with Organ Management Phone Support to relay real time updates while
• supporting ongoing OCS cases
• Regularly communicate OCS utilization activities and users’ feedback
• Annual recertification on all organ platforms
• Timely submission of post case documentation and preparation/presentation of case reviews
• (with support and review of senior colleague) following the use of the OCS
• Provide customer support as needed (e.g. hospital in-services & refresher training)
• Perform other TransMedics tasks and duties as assigned/required.

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

This position manages the following positions on a daily basis.

• This position will not have management responsibilities.

PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES

• Must be able to lift 75lbs up and down stairs.
• Must be fully vaccinated (and boosted, when eligible) against respiratory viruses including but not limited to Influenza and COVID-19. The Company provides legally required accommodations to this requirement where an accommodation can be provided without posing an undue burden to the Company. However, given that the vaccination requirement is often a condition to our work at hospitals, and being on-site at hospitals is an essential function of the position of an OCS Specialist, there are limits on our ability to provide accommodations that do not pose an undue burden to the Company.
• Ability to work on call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, for 15 days per month (including holidays/weekends)
• Ability to fly domestically to clinical sites within and outside of home regions to perform OCS support as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• BSN or BS degree in combination with equivalent medical experience, with 2+ years' experience in ICU, ECMO, Cath Lab, OR, Transplant, and ED.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting platforms

TransMedics is committed to equitable and transparent compensation. The expected base salary range for this role is $100,900 -125,900 which represents the company’s current good‑faith estimate of compensation for this position. Actual salary will depend on factors such as, but not limited to, candidate experience, qualifications, skills, and the specific work location. This role may also be eligible for bonuses, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, retirement savings, paid time off, and wellness resources).
