Job description

We are seeking an OCI Cloud Systems Engineer Jr to support the stability, reliability, and scalability of cloud-based infrastructure and systems. The selected candidate will assist in managing distributed cloud environments, supporting system integration, and ensuring effective operations of cloud-hosted applications and services. This role involves participating in system engineering activities including integration, verification, validation, and operational analysis while helping to improve cloud frameworks, tools, and processes. The ideal candidate will contribute to maintaining healthy and reliable cloud environments while working closely with cross‑functional engineering teams.

Security Clearance: Secret Clearance Required.

Work Authorization: U.S. Citizens ONLY due to legal or government contract requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the stability, scalability, and sustainability of cloud‑based networks and software systems.
• Assist with system integration, verification, validation, and operational support activities for cloud systems.
• Monitor and maintain the health of distributed cloud environments and virtual machines (VMs).
• Develop and support proactive engineering mechanisms to ensure reliable system performance.
• Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, and requirements allocation related to cloud systems engineering.
• Participate in trade studies and interface definition for hardware and software system specifications.
• Utilize system metrics and performance trends to identify opportunities for improvements within existing frameworks, tools, and processes.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot system issues and support operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in cloud systems engineering, systems administration, or related technical roles.
• Basic understanding of cloud computing environments and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies and cloud‑based infrastructure.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in collaborative engineering environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
• Exposure to cybersecurity frameworks and standards used in cloud environments.
• Knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle concepts including integration and validation.
• Familiarity with scripting or automation tools used for cloud operations.
• Understanding of cybersecurity considerations in cloud‑based systems.

Certifications

• IAT Level II certification required.
• At least one cloud certification required within 6 months of hire (AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI preferred).
