Innovate! Inc. invites applications for an Oceanographic Data Scientist & Field Operations Specialist based in Seattle, WA.

The role combines quantitative ecology, data synthesis, and field support to evaluate predator-prey dynamics affecting Pacific salmon. Contingent on contract award, work may occur on-site at the Northwest Fisheries Science Center or field stations in WA/OR. Required are a PhD in a related field and 5+ years of experience, with strong skills in R, GIS, and data

Qualifications

Doctorate in geomorphology, oceanography, hydrology, fisheries, ecology, or closely related field.
Five or more years of directly relevant experience; advanced-degree substitutions may apply.
Experience conducting quantitative fisheries or ecological research, data synthesis, modeling, and publication.

Responsibilities

Compile, organize, clean, and analyze large spatial and temporal datasets related to predator-prey distributions and salmon survival.
Develop spatial-temporal and quantitative analyses evaluating environmental effects on predation rates.
Quantify trophic interactions and predator-induced mortality impacts on Pacific salmon.
Prepare literature reviews addressing predator consumption, distribution, and ecological outcomes.
Synthesize findings into technical reports, manuscripts, and management briefings.
