Hourly Pay: $18.73 to $20.10, negotiable based on qualifications and experience. Work schedule variable and includes weekends and holidays. The role involves entry‑level protective service work guarding the safety of patrons at assigned ocean beaches and providing information regarding beach and ocean conditions.
The position is appointive service/temporary and is open until filled.
Requirements
- No formal training or experience required.
- Must successfully complete the Brevard County Ocean Lifeguard Performance Test: swimming 500 m in ocean, physical agility test, following USLA Advanced Guidelines.
- Must successfully complete the Brevard County Ocean Lifeguard Training Academy.
- Must obtain and maintain CPR certification from an approved agency during the term of employment.
- Must obtain and maintain Emergency Medical Responder certification from an approved agency during the term of employment.
- Tryouts will be conducted weekly. Applicants must pre‑register at FR_oradmin@brevardcounty.us to request a testing slot. Upon registration, an invitation with a time and pool location will be emailed.
- In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man‑made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
