Job Title: Ocean Lifeguard – Buxton Beach

Location: Buxton Beach, Buxton, NC
Period of Performance: Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day
Reports To: Lifeguard Supervisor / Site Manager

Position Summary:
Deliver professional lifeguard services on Buxton Beach, ensuring public safety, water rescue readiness, and compliance with National Park Service regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Staff assigned guard station daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

• Mark and monitor designated 100-meter swim zone.

• Provide proactive rescue surveillance and emergency response.

• Maintain condition flag visibility and update surf conditions as needed.

• Utilize and care for all assigned rescue and safety equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 18+ years old

• Certified by USLA or equivalent

• Prior open water rescue training or 2 years’ experience

• Current CPR and First Aid certification

• Capable of meeting USLA physical fitness benchmarks
