Job summary

Glosten is seeking a student intern to join our Ocean Engineering & Analysis group in Seattle, WA. You will work with engineers on real maritime projects, applying coursework to practical analysis and design tasks.

Projects may include climatology, environmental loads analysis, hydrodynamic analysis, seakeeping, mooring analysis, fleet planning and logistics, risk assessment, and other critical tasks. Start in June for 10–12 weeks.

Glosten is seeking a student intern to work with our Ocean Engineering & Analysis group in Seattle, WA. Glosten is a naval architecture and marine engineering firm that has served the marine industry for over 65 years. We work in teams to accomplish exciting projects in a stimulating, fast-paced, and collaborative environment.

As an intern, you will work closely with your group lead and other associates who will help you apply your knowledge and grow your skills on projects that have a significant impact. Our engineering team will help you to roll up your sleeves and apply textbook theory and lab experience to solve real maritime challenges.

We are looking for a candidate to work alongside engineering staff to support ongoing projects. Opportunities may include climatology, environmental loads analysis, hydrodynamic analysis, seakeeping, mooring analysis, fleet planning & logistics, risk assessment, and other tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong academic background in one or more of the following disciplines: naval architecture, ocean engineering, hydrodynamics, numerical methods, and statistical analysis.
• Mutual respect for coworkers in a collegial atmosphere.
• Motivation to identify and pursue internal and external professional growth opportunities, including areas outside their specific discipline.
• Interest in the marine industry. Glosten is looking for candidates who would consider joining the firm permanently following graduation.
• Excellent communication skills. Communication is a highly valuable skill at Glosten, as we frequently collaborate in inter-disciplinary teams and must convey complex ideas clearly and concisely to clients and other project stakeholders.

Requirements

• Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. Due to project restrictions, Glosten can only consider applicants with unrestricted access to work in the United States or those eligible for TN visas.
• Students with expected graduation within one year of this posting are preferred. Ability to hold a full-time position, 40 hours per week.
• The summer internship is expected to last approximately 10-12 weeks over the summer, starting in June and ending in August. Specific start and end dates can be discussed based on the student's school schedule.
• Ability to work at our headquarters in Seattle, WA.
