Job summary

PureHealth is seeking an Occupational Therapist to provide occupational therapy services under supervision in a post-acute setting. You will contribute to assessments and treatment plans, document thoroughly, and collaborate with the health team to ensure comprehensive patient care.

The role requires certification and active licensure, with responsibilities including education of patients/families and adherence to HIPAA and regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Under OT supervision, assist in assessment of inpatients/outpatients.
  • Contribute to treatment plans aligned with patient health problems.
  • Document daily charges, progress notes, and reports accurately.
  • Monitor and adjust therapeutic interventions as needed.
  • Educate patients and families at appropriate levels.
  • Coordinate with health team for discharge planning and updates.
  • Demonstrate unit-specific clinical skills annually.
  • Schedule management to meet productivity targets and caseloads.
  • Provide input on program development and quality improvement.
  • Comply with HIPAA and corporate policies.

Position Summary

To provide occupational therapy services as assigned under the direction and supervision of the Occupational Therapist in accordance with PureHealth’s policies and procedures and in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Under the direction of the Occupational Therapist, may contribute to the assessment of inpatients and outpatients in relation to their diagnosis

2. Under the direction of the Occupational Therapist, may provide intervention in accordance to, and contribute to the treatment plan, which is patient focused and relevant to the actual and potential health problems of the customer

3. Documentation (daily charges, Progress Notes, and other reports) is complete, legible, accurate, timely and reflective of department standards

4. Therapeutic benefit of treatment is monitored and modified appropriately

5. Provides education at the level appropriate for each customer. Customer and/or family’s learning needs are assessed, addressed, and documented per department standards

6. Initiates, coordinates, and communicates collaborative efforts(provider updates, discharge planning) amongst health team members and other interested parties to show a comprehensive picture of the customer

7. Demonstrates competency in clinical skills and techniques specific to each unit on an annual basis

8. Organizes and adjusts schedule according to department work volume and customer caseload to maintain productivity targets. Keeps immediate supervisor informed of ongoing activities or problems in regards to customer caseload in a timely manner

9. Provides input regarding department operational matters including but not limited to program development, quality improvement, facilities, planning, operational and capital budgets

10. Complies with laws and regulations applicable to position and act in accordance with Corporate Compliance Program, the licensing Board of Texas Healthcare and the American Occupational Therapy

Work Environment

This job operates in a post-acute setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the facility. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. Team member is expected to adhere to facility’s no-smoking policy.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 60 pounds.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a position in a post-acute setting that is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Weekend and holiday shifts will be required.

HIPAA

Team members are required to adhere to policies and procedures implementing HIPAA requirements for the privacy and security of protected health information. Team member are permitted to use and/or disclose only minimum amount of Protected Health Information necessary to complete assigned tasks. Reports all suspected violation of company’s HIPAA policies or procedures to facility CEO.

  • Must be able to successfully prioritize workload, demonstrate initiative, and analyze situations to make sound decisions
  • Must show initiative and take action on observed needs
  • Self-directing with the ability to work with minimal direct supervision
  • Able to communicate, direct, motivate and build team relations
  • Ability to make sound clinical judgment relating to the provision of Rehabilitation services
  • Collaboration with member of the interdisciplinary team in delivery of patient care to maximize functional
  • COTA license required
  • Active License Required.
Required Education/Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited therapy program
Required Licenses/Certifications
  • Valid State OT License
Preferred Education/Experience
  • A minimum one (1) year of related experience
