Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking an Occupational Therapy Assistant to join the Rehab department at the Novi Campus (Henry Ford-Providence Hospital, 47601 Grand River, Suite A-201). The position is listed as contingent with a shift from 7:30a-4p.

The OTA will work under the supervision of an occupational therapist to deliver prescribed therapy. The role requires an ACOTE-accredited OTA degree, Michigan licensure, and CPR certification (or within 90 days).

Qualifications

• Current State of Michigan licensure to practice occupational therapy.

Responsibilities

• Conduct medically prescribed occupational therapy under the supervision of an occupational therapist.
• Implement an established treatment plan using appropriate modalities and document patient progress.
• Monitor patient response and communicate progress or goal revisions to the supervising OT.
• Educate patient and family/caregiver about deficits and provide discharge planning information.
• May oversee care provided by therapy technicians per regulations and standards.

** GENERAL SUMMARY **

• Conduct medically prescribed occupational therapy under the supervision of an occupational therapist.
• Implement an established treatment plan using appropriate modalities. Document findings of patient progress. Seek consultation as necessary.
• Monitor patient's response to treatment plan. Communicate patient progress and possible goal revisions to occupational therapist.
• Educate the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits. Provide discharge planning assistance and information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and community support programs.
• May oversee the care provided by therapy 3-Technicians according to established regulations and practice standards.

** EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE **

• Occupational Therapy Assistant Associate's degree acquired from an Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) accredited program.
• Current State of Michigan licensure.
• Current CPR certification (or obtain within 90 days of hire).
