Job summary

Family First Healthcare Services is seeking a licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our home health team in Florida. You will work under a licensed OT to implement plans that promote independence in daily living and mobility within patients' homes.

You will identify patient needs, contribute to individualized plans, and educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic exercises and adaptive techniques. A strong bedside manner and ability to work independently are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have OT knowledge and intervention skills as applied to home health.

Responsibilities

• Provides occupational therapy services under supervision of a licensed OT.
• Assists in identifying patient care needs and contributes to treatment plans.
• Implements ADLs, functional mobility, and safety interventions.
• Assesses patient status via observation, interviews, and records review.
• Carries out treatment plans as established by supervising OT.
• Educates patients and caregivers on exercises, adaptive techniques, and assistive devices.
• Assists patients with adaptive equipment and environmental modifications to promote safety and independence.
• Documents patient care accurately and timely in records.
• Maintains a safe, clean, compliant work environment per infection control policies.
• Ensures compliance with regulations and accreditation standards.
• Participates in ongoing education and professional development.
• Demonstrates flexibility, professionalism, and accountability while supporting team goals.

Position Summary

We are seeking a licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant to work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. In this role, you will assist patients who are recovering from illness, injury, or disability by implementing treatment plans that support independence in daily living activities and functional mobility within the home environment.

Occupational Therapy Assistant Job Responsibilities

• Provides occupational therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist

• Assists in identifying patient care needs and contributing to individualized treatment plans

• Implements therapeutic interventions focused on activities of daily living (ADLs), functional mobility, and safety

• Assesses patient status through observation, patient interviews, and review of therapy history

• Carries out treatment plans as established by the supervising Occupational Therapist

• Educates patients and caregivers on therapeutic exercises, adaptive techniques, and use of assistive devices

• Assists patients with adaptive equipment and environmental modifications to promote safety and independence

• Documents patient care services accurately and timely in patient and department records

• Maintains a safe, clean, and compliant work environment in accordance with infection control policies

• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accreditation standards

• Participates in ongoing education and professional development opportunities

• Demonstrates flexibility, professionalism, and accountability while supporting team goals

Occupational Therapy Assistant Qualifications / Skills

• Knowledge of occupational therapy principles and interventions

• Strong patient care and communication skills

• Documentation and EMR proficiency ALORA Plus preferred

• Compassionate bedside manner

• Ability to work independently in a home health setting

Education and Experience Requirements

• Associate degree from an ACOTE-accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program

• Current Florida OTA license

• NBCOT certification preferred/required per state regulations

• Home health experience preferred but not required
