Responsibilities

The Occupational Therapy Assistant - Journey Traveler must be able to travel nationwide for 13-week assignments. This position provides flexibility to travel the country and work in various settings. On assignment, the Occupational Therapy Assistant implements occupational therapy programs and provides treatments to facilitate increased independence and functioning, under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist. Attends and contributes to patient care, staffing conferences, and other meetings as a representative of occupational therapy, under the direction of the Occupational Therapist.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Delivering rehab services adhering to established plans of care and documentation standards.
  2. Collaborating with the rehabilitation team to develop patient-specific programs.
  3. Instructing patients, families, and caregivers in occupational therapy techniques.
  4. Maintaining timely and accurate documentation for all patients.
  5. Reporting equipment needs and maintaining equipment.
  6. Ensuring high-quality patient service in a compassionate environment.
  7. Implementing individualized treatment plans and therapeutic interventions in areas such as cognitive skills, muscle strength, coordination, endurance, mobility, perceptual abilities, sensory awareness, balance, activities of daily living, joint protection, work simplification, orientation, and physical agent modalities.
  8. Organizing and facilitating treatment groups in consultation with the Occupational Therapist.
  9. Performing other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program according to AOTA & ACOTE standards.
  • Initial certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
  • Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of practice.
  • Availability to travel and reside temporarily outside the primary residence for 13-week assignments nationwide.
