• Eligible to practice as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in Florida.
• Current license/certification in the state of practice.

Responsibilities

• Patient Care Execution: Under supervision of an occupational therapist, execute therapeutic plans, teach adaptive equipment use, guide exercises, and engage patients in activities for recovery and independence.
• Activity and Program Planning: Contribute to planning therapeutic activities tailored to each patient’s needs and goals.
• Progress Monitoring: Regularly observe and document patient progress, report to the occupational therapist, and adjust interventions for continuous improvement.
• Patient and Family Education: Educate patients and families about therapy, equipment use, and home modifications to support ongoing recovery.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Care Execution: Under the supervision of an occupational therapist, a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant is responsible for executing the therapeutic plans designed to help patients. This includes teaching patients how to use adaptive equipment, guiding them through exercises, and engaging them in activities that are crucial to their recovery and improvement.
• Activity and Program Planning: A Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant contributes to the planning and selection of therapeutic activities tailored to the individual needs and interests of each patient. This involves understanding the therapeutic goals set by the occupational therapist and applying creative and practical approaches to meet those objectives.
• Progress Monitoring: Regularly monitoring and documenting the progress of patients is a key responsibility. The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant must observe changes in the patient's performance and behavior, report these observations to the occupational therapist, and adjust the therapy interventions accordingly to ensure continuous improvement.
• Patient and Family Education: Educating patients and their families about the therapy process, the use of adaptive equipment, and home modifications is another important duty. The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant provides clear instructions and support to ensure that therapeutic practices are continued at home, which is vital for the patient's long-term recovery and independence.
