Description

*Must be a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in the State of Kansas.*

Lakeview Village in Lenexa, Kansas is a not-for-profit continuing care retirement community that offers a variety of living options and services to seniors, including Outpatient Therapy. In addition to an on-campus outpatient therapy clinic, Lakeview’s therapy team also provides services at six other locations near the main campus.

We currently have an opening for a caring and dedicated full timeOccupational Therapy Assistantto join our excellent team of rehab professionals.

The Occupational Therapy Assistant assists in the treatment of patients as directed by the Occupational Therapist in order to restore, maintain, or prevent the decline of patient function, and participates as an active member of the rehabilitation team.

Job Type: PRN, as needed

Pay: $34.00/hour

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Records treatments administered in patients’ medical records and in the department’s daily billing records, in accordance with established procedures.
• Instructs patients, family, and staff in maintenance programs, as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
• Attends and participates in patient care conferences and rehabilitation departmental meetings.
• Maintains and continually improves professional competency by attending in-service trainings and utilizing other educational materials.
• Protects patients and staff by adhering to infection control procedures at all times.
• Ensures that services are provided at all times in accordance with applicable guidelines, regulations, and standards of practice.
• Develops and maintains a good working rapport with inter-department personnel and other departments within the facility, to ensure that Therapy Services programs can be properly maintained to meet the needs of facility, residents, and patients.
• Ensures that Resident’s Rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property, and civil rights, including the right to express grievances are followed.

Qualifications

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant program.
  • Must be licensed to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Kansas, and nationally credited as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Demonstrates good communications skills, including but not limited to effective reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills, with a fluent understanding of English.
  • Previous experience working with the elderly is preferred.
  • Possesses an empathetic approach to the elderly.
  • Able to work in a team setting with residents, relatives, staff, and others.
