Job description

Position Overview

Full performance level class in the paraprofessional occupation of occupational therapy requiring considerable knowledge of application of occupational therapy techniques; under the direction of a licensed occupational therapist, helps with planning and implementation of more standard occupational therapy treatments and activities for mentally and physically handicapped persons.

Summary Of Job Duties

  • Provides therapy services for patients in individual sessions (e.g., range of motion, activities of daily living, training, sensory stimulation, visual, auditory, tactile, and feeding programs); acquires materials, specifications, and recommendations from licensed occupational therapist, then produces orthotic devices.
  • Observes and documents patient behavior, individualizes program progress and results; prepares and writes monthly program summaries, quarterly reviews, and assists in writing of the Interdisciplinary Habilitation Plans for each patient; recommends changes in program objectives and makes reports to supervising occupational therapist; prepares and presents in-service education programs for staff; attends meetings and conferences.
  • Monitors adaptive equipment and makes adjustments as needed after consultation with other occupational therapy assistants; performs minor wheelchair repairs/adjustments as needed.

Minimum Qualifications And Requirements

  • Current State of Ohio Occupational Therapy Assistant License.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
