Job summary

The State of Hawaiʻi is seeking an Occupational Therapy Aide to assist an Occupational Therapist in providing occupational therapy services in a public setting. You will help carry out treatment programs and support patient activities under supervision.

You will also plan adjunctive services, maintain attendance and progress records, and observe patient behavior to report to your supervisor. Personal care tasks may be required and other related duties assigned.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of experience working with patients in a hospital, facility, or program.
• Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and life skills such as eating, bathing, dressing, etc.
• Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate effectively in English; follow instructions precisely.

Responsibilities

• Carry out predetermined occupational therapy treatment programs by performing routine procedures.
• Plan, organize and conduct adjunctive services (e.g., diversional and recreational activities).
• Keep records of patients' attendance in activities; maintain progress reports (flow sheets).
• Observe patients' behaviors and report changes to the supervisor.
• Provide personal care as needed (feeding, bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming) and perform other related duties.
