Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Current license to practice as an Occupational Therapist in New York State.
• Current limited permit to practice as an Occupational Therapist in New York State (outpatient settings only).
• Specialized certifications, as needed.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Administers direct patient care in accordance with the prescription from the referring physician.
• Develops and implements treatment plans to improve coordination, movement and function of upper extremities.
• Submits required documentation following department policies.
• Uses evaluation techniques to set goals and designs treatment plans to meet patient needs.
• Provides remediation to help patients achieve maximum daily functioning.
• Reviews DME needs, instructs patients on use, and recommends follow-up care.
• Participates in quality improvement chart reviews.
• Treats patients using kinetic activities, perceptual training and developmental sequencing.
• Instructs patients and caregivers in daily living skills to promote independence.
• Performs related duties; all essential under ADA.
