Our client is seeking a Temporary Occupational Therapist for a 1-2-month assignment, where you will play a crucial role in planning and administering occupational therapy treatment programs for medically referred participants. Your expertise will help restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability following disease, injury, or loss of body parts.



Responsibilities:


- Evaluate participants referred by their healthcare providers and develop personalized treatment programs in collaboration with the healthcare team.


- Conduct assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.


- Deliver evaluations and treatments at the PACE site or in participants' homes, nursing homes, and other community settings.


- Ensure a clean, safe environment and adhere to safety protocols during all interactions and treatments.


- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop comprehensive care plans and actively participate in care plan meetings to meet state and federal regulations.


- Maintain thorough documentation of all participant information, including evaluations, progress notes, and care plans in compliance with departmental policies.


- Consult with physiatrist and other healthcare professionals as needed for comprehensive participant care.


- Uphold high standards of clinical practice by attending continuing education sessions and staying current with professional literature.


- Participate in clinical education for student affiliates, including providing clinical instruction to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and students.


- Recommend appropriate equipment for participants upon discharge and support in-service training programs for site and departmental staff.


- Actively contribute to performance improvement monitoring initiatives.



Qualifications:


Education:


Successful completion of an Occupational Therapy program from an accredited university (Bachelor's Degree required).


Experience:


Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an Occupational Therapist, especially with the geriatric population preferred. If you have less experience, training will be provided.


- Proven ability to establish rapport with patients and staff.


- Proficiency in using various OT modalities/equipment.


- Willingness and ability to travel to participants' homes, nursing homes, and clinic sites.


- Knowledge of PACE regulations and Care Compass or other Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) preferred.


License:


Current New York State licensure as a Registered Occupational Therapist.


- Must be legally authorized to practice in New York and meet medical clearance for communicable diseases and immunizations.

- Bilingual candidates are preferred, depending on the demographic needs of the region served.
