Job summary

Harris Health is seeking a licensed Occupational Therapist to evaluate patients and implement therapeutic interventions in ambulatory clinics and department settings. You will support clinical education and participate in program improvements, while ensuring compliance with practice acts and reimbursement rules.

The role requires a BS or MS in Occupational Therapy and a current Texas license, with preference for candidates who can fabricate and fit orthotic splints and have ambulatory care

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Occupational Therapy with an active Texas license.
• Four years OT experience; bridge/COTA path considered.
• BLS certification from an AHA program is required.
• Spanish or Vietnamese bilingual skills preferred.
• Proficiency with Occupational Therapy equipment and documentation.
• Ability to fabricate and fit custom orthotic splints as needed.

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs patient evaluations and administers interventions in department or ambulatory clinics, performs related duties such as departmental performance improvement, research, and clinical education, and serves as clinical specialist to staff. Also serves as resource to program or product line development. Adheres to practice act, regulations and rules, departmental policy and procedure, and documentation and reimbursement rules applicable to ambulatory care. Manages patient appointment system and work with front office on service authorization, certification and recertification. Demonstrates competence to adapt work and customer service to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety and other developmental needs of patients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Specialized Training/Licensure:

BS/ MS in occupational therapy; Current Texas license.

Specialty Certification:

CHT and/or CLT preferred

Basic Life Support from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) approved program.

Work Experience (Years and Area):

Four (4) Years Work Experience as an OT. Will accept minimum 1 year experience as an OT with 6 years' experience as a COTA for candidates having experience as a COTA and have completed a bridge program to be licensed as an OT. Half (1/2) credit given for prior COTA experience, cap at 5 years of experience.
