Job summary

Advocate Health seeks an Occupational Therapist to perform specialized tests, assessments, and therapy to support children across homes, agencies, preschools, or clinics.

You will develop intervention plans, document progress, and collaborate with families and a multidisciplinary team to optimize sensory-motor development and function.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in OT from an accredited university.
  • One year of experience in occupational therapy.
  • Licensed to practice Occupational Therapy in the applicable state with current licensure.
  • CPR Certification every two years.
  • Valid applicable state driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform specialized tests such as manual muscle testing and goniometry.
  • Conduct individual and multidisciplinary evaluations; document findings.
  • Plan intervention strategies and communicate with families about child strengths/weaknesses.
  • Provide OT treatment services including neuro-developmental and sensory motor therapies.
  • Document therapy goals and progress; participate in IFSP as needed.
  • Participate in chart reviews and quality assurance activities.
  • Attend scheduled staff or committee meetings as needed.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy
Master's degree or Doctorate in OT (preferred)
Licensed OT (current licensure)
CPR Certification (every two years)
Valid driver's license

What You'll Need

What You'll Do

  • Responsible for the performance of specialized tests, such as manual muscle testing, goniometry and teaching occupational therapy procedures to the patient, family and other health personnel.
  • Performs both individual and comprehensive evaluations with multidisciplinary team members. Provides written summary of diagnostic findings to be incorporated into team plan.
  • Plans intervention strategies and communicates effectively with families regarding the child's strengths and weaknesses; work may be performed in homes, agencies, preschools or clinics.
  • Provides occupational therapy treatment services including neuro-developmental and sensory motor therapy, developmental stimulation, home programming, equipment demonstration, or other treatment modality to enhance sensory motor functioning and general developmental status.
  • Provides documentation of goals and objectives for therapy as well as the course and progress of interventions with the patient. Participates in IFSP (Individualized Family Service Plan) as needed.
  • Participates in chart review of clinical records for quality assurance. Attend relevant workshops and update instruments/tools to ensure most beneficial practices for population served.
  • Attends scheduled staff, CDSA, or other committee meetings as needed.
  • Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
