Job summary

Progress West Hospital in O'Fallon, MO, part of BJC HealthCare, seeks an Occupational Therapist to join a multidisciplinary team. This role offers one-on-one patient care with a flexible schedule and a PRN commitment, including weekend/holiday rotation—2 weekends every 6 weeks.

The OT will provide skilled services within acute care, coordinate with the care team, and support discharge planning while utilizing state-of-the-art facilities and a mentorship-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy required.
• Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy preferred.
• Licensure as an Occupational Therapist required.

Responsibilities

• Establishes treatment plan and provides treatment, considering discharge needs and required equipment.
• Educates and collaborates with patients, families and other health-care providers; refers to specialists as needed.
• Delegates to assistants, techs and students; communicates skill level required for interventions.
• Completes documentation per departmental policies.
• Provides assessment, reassessment and/or consultations for OT services.

Overview

Opened in 2007, Progress West Hospital is BJC HealthCare's newest hospital in St. Charles County, featuring modern private rooms. It offers 24-hour emergency services and has partnered with St. Louis Children's Hospital to provide world‑class pediatric emergency care. Progress West Hospital also provides surgical services, endoscopy services, a cardiac catheterization lab, medical/surgical inpatient services, diagnostic imaging, lab services, and the Advanced Wound Center, a specialty wound treatment facility with state‑of‑the‑art equipment. Progress West Hospital recently completed an expansion of its Childbirth Center to include enhanced services for at‑risk mothers and babies, with a newborn ICU that provides care for babies born as early as 32 weeks. Progress West Hospital is a Certified Level II Stroke Center. The hospital's medical office building houses offices for specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, pediatrics, and orthopedics. The Therapy Departments provide inpatient services including Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology. This department, along with all departments within the hospital, supports the guiding principles of the hospital in providing care that is customized and reflects the patient's needs, values, and choices.

Role Purpose

The licensed or registered Occupational Therapist (OT) provides skilled occupational therapy services to patients including all aspects of evaluation and treatment.

Responsibilities

Establishes treatment plan and provides treatment, considering discharge needs; expected discharge functional status; and appropriate equipment and supplies. Educates, collaborates with, and conferences with patients, families, and other health care providers; making recommendations for referrals to specialists as needed. Delegates to assistants, techs, and students through written and verbal communication including determining the skill level or competency required to provide interventions to best meet the needs of the patient. Completes documentation in accordance with departmental policies. Provides assessment, reassessment, and/or consultations for Occupational Therapy Services.
