Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Per Diem Occupational Therapist to assess and evaluate patient care needs including ADLs, fine motor skills, home assessments, and adaptive equipment. You will contribute to therapy plan development with the physician and collaborate with the care team in diverse home environments.

The role requires current OT licensure, valid driver’s license or reliable transport, and strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • Current Occupational Therapy licensure in state of practice.
  • Current driver’s license with access to a vehicle or reliable public transport.
  • CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patient's functional status and OT needs; assist in plan of care.
  • Observe and report patient responses to treatment to nurse supervisor and physician.
  • Conduct assessments to evaluate functional level using standard tests.
  • Instruct patient, family, and care team on therapy activities.
  • Demonstrate ability to work in diverse home settings regardless of background.

As the Per Diem Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for assessment and evaluation of patient care needs related to functional status, activities of daily living, fine motor coordination, home assessments and adaptive equipment, and other occupational therapy needs as defined by medical conditions.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Evaluates the patient's functional status, status of all body systems as required for CMS documentation, and occupational therapy needs. Consults with the physician in the development of the therapy plan of care.
  • Observes, records, and reports to the nurse supervisor and the physician the patient's response to treatment and changes to the patient's condition.
  • Conducts patient assessments evaluating the level of function by applying diagnostic and prognostic functional ability tests.
  • Instructs patient, family, caregiver, and participating members of the health care team in the areas of therapy in which they can participate to assist the patient
  • Ability to function in any home situation regardless of age, race, creed, color, sex, disability, or financial condition of the client

Required Qualifications:
  • Current Occupational Therapy licensure in state of practice
  • Current driver's license and vehicle insurance, access to a dependable vehicle, or public transportation
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current CPR certification or ability to obtain with 90 days of employment
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently
  • Good communication, writing, and organizational skills

The hourly pay for this role will range from $43.70 to $65.55 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
