Job summary

University Hospitals in Willoughby, Ohio seeks an Occupational Therapist to evaluate patients and develop individualized rehabilitation plans within the care continuum.

The role requires licensure in Ohio, graduation from an accredited OT program, and a commitment to patient education, discharge planning, and adherence to PHI privacy and UH policies.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program (required).
• Licensed by the State of Ohio to practice Occupational Therapy (required).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days (required).
• Handy Therapy background preferred.

• Educates patient/family/caregiver in applicable health information, treatment and prevention.

Job description

A Brief Overview

Organizes and conducts Occupational Therapy program to facilitate the rehabilitation of people with physical and/or psychosocial disabilities. The Occupational Therapist directs the patient’s participation in selected activities/treatments to restore, re-enforce and correct pathology to promote and/or maintain good health.

What You Will Do

• Performs evaluation(s) and develops an effective treatment plan appropriate to a patient’s rehabilitation needs within the care continuum.
• Educates patient/family/caregiver in applicable health information, treatment and prevention.
• Initiates and participates in the discharge planning process.
• Performs other department activities such as, but not limited to documentation, billing, support of department operations, etc.

Additional Responsibilities

• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
• For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
• Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Handy Therapy background preferred

• Evaluation and treatment skills necessary to provide Occupational Therapy appropriate to the developmental and chronological age of patients on caseload. (Required proficiency)
• Professional initiative, objectivity, good time management and interpersonal skills. (Required proficiency)
• Physically, cognitively and perceptually able to provide patient treatment and able to assist in physical mobility of patients and equipment. (Required proficiency)

Licenses and Certifications
