Job summary

Shawnee Gardens Healthcare & Rehab Center is seeking a Registered Occupational Therapist to provide diagnostic evaluations and treatment for assigned patients, helping them reach their maximum functional level and use learned skills in daily living and community activities.

You will perform comprehensive assessments, design individualized therapy plans, and collaborate with the care team to support restoration of independence and safety in activities of daily living.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Bachelor, Master, or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy.
• Current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) is required.
• Proficiency with applicable state, federal, and professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Administers and writes evaluations of assigned patients per departmental standards.
• Maintains timely, accurate patient records and reports.
• Directs support staff to achieve patients’ functional goals.
• Administers treatment programs to increase patients’ functioning.
• Designs individualized therapy for adults in learning-disabled populations.
• Provides prevention therapy and teaches energy conservation and safety techniques.
• Develops home programs and instructs patients or families.
• Participates in patient support groups with team members.

Job Summary

The Registered Occupational Therapist will provide diagnostic evaluations and treatment to assigned patients, and help patients reach maximum performance level and to use skills learned to the fullest to function in the community within the limits of their capabilities.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Administers and writes evaluations of assigned patients in accordance with departmental standards and procedures.
• Maintains timely and accurate patient records and reports.
• Directs the assistance of support staff to achieve patients’ functional goals.
• Administers treatment programs to increase patients' levels of functioning.
• Designs individualized therapy for adult learning-disabled patients.
• Provides prevention therapy to maintain functional skills; instructs patients in energy conservation, joint protection, safety techniques for sensory loss, and transferring and visual field deficits; instructs patients' families in personal care for patients, especially proper transfer techniques to avoid back strain.
• Develops home programs and instructs patients or families in carrying out such programs.
• Participates in patient support groups with other team members.

Education and Experience

Physical Requirements

• Duties require extensive standing and walking.
• Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients.
• Duties require frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
