Job summary

Norman Regional Health System seeks an Occupational Therapy Assistant to perform initial and ongoing assessments and establish a care plan. You will deliver therapeutic interventions and document services, while educating patients and families.

The role includes supervising OT assistants, students, and support staff, and contributing to community-based education and clinical instruction for students from accredited programs.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AOTA approved occupational therapy assistant education program; successful completion of the certification process for OTA.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure by the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Examiners.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required/maintained during employment.

• Provides therapeutic interventions appropriate to the patient’s age and disability.
• Documents delivery of Occupational Therapy services.
• Educates patients, family, caregivers, and staff members.
• Directs and supervises activities of Occupational Therapy Assistants, students, and support personnel.
• Participates in planning for the provision of patient care services.
• Accepts role of Clinical Instructor to supervise/educate students.

• Promotes physical rehabilitation services through community/system based education activities, marketing opportunities, and support groups.
• Accepts the role of a Clinical Instructor to supervise/educate students from accredited occupational therapy and occupational therapy assistant programs.

• Graduate of an AOTA approved occupational therapy assistant education program; successful completion of the certification process for Occupational Therapy Assistant.

Experience

• Preferred but not required

(Above requirements can be met by equivalent combination of education and experience)

Licensure/Certification

• Licensed or eligible for licensure, or temporary licensure, as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant by the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Examiners.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment.
