MedStar Health is seeking an Occupational Therapist (Acute Care) to join our team at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center. You will provide evaluation, treatment planning, and discharge planning while documenting patient progress in a busy acute-care setting.

The role requires licensure in Maryland/DC/VA as appropriate for the location and an AHA BLS certification. Expect Monday–Friday work with weekend rotation, contributing to a high-quality, team-based patient care environment.

Qualifications

  • Requires Bachelor's, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Maryland/DC/VA licensure as necessary for location.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification.

MedStar Health is looking for an Occupational Therapist (Acute Care) to join our team at MedStar

Southern Maryland Hospital Center!

The Occupational Therapist provides occupational therapy services to patients, to include screening and evaluation, treatment planning, treatment implementation, treatment re-assessment and revision, patient/client re-evaluation, discharge planning, and documentation. The Occupational Therapist participates as requested in program planning and protocol development and assists the team in meeting established goals.

Primary Duties: Providesevaluation services including review of pertinenthistoricalinformation, performance of specific assessments, and determination of recommendations and documentation of results. Explains evaluation findings and treatmentplantopatientand family and incorporatespatientand family in the goals setting.

Demonstratesproficiencyin implementation of treatment protocols based upon evaluation findings, the patient's presentation, and the evolving health care environment. Consultswith other healthcare professionals asindicated. Recognizes and documents changes in patient's condition requiring modification of the plan of care and/or the need for medical/rehabilitation consultation.

Completesappropriate dischargeplanning and follow-up care. Accurately andtimelydocuments and charges for patient care activitiesconsideringour evolving health care environment, painting a clear picture of the patient's course of care including focusedinitialevaluation/plan of care thatestablishesbaseline and goals, legible daily encounter notes, interim progress summaries, and discharge evaluation.

Demonstrates effective time management and meets productivity expectations. Managean accurateschedule. Demonstrates a professional commitment toprovidefrictionless patient access to care through flexibility, adaptability, creativity, and actions/behaviors that display empathy in our patient consumer driven environment.

Takes initiative in pursuing and directing continuing education for professional growth and competency for self and organization. Serves as a clinical instructor to assign students.Assistswith orientation and mentoring ofnew staff, students, volunteers, and technicians.

Qualifications: Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy.

Maryland, District of Columbia (DC), and/or Virginia licensure asnecessary for your specific location(s).

American Heart Association's BLS (Basic Life Support).

This position has a hiring range of : USD $74,214.00 - USD $134,596.00 /Yr.
