Job summary

MedStar Harbor Hospital in Maryland is seeking an Occupational Therapist for a part-time role (Mon, Thu, Fri). The OT will evaluate patients, plan and implement therapy, and participate in discharge planning with thorough documentation.

Qualifications include Masonic licensure for the applicable location(s) and a degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program, plus BLS certification. The hospital is part of MedStar Health, a large regional system recognized for quality care.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy.
  • Maryland, District of Columbia (DC), and/or Virginia licensure as necessary for your location(s).
  • American Heart Association’s BLS (Basic Life Support).

Responsibilities

  • Provides evaluation services including review of historical information, assessments, and documentation of results.
  • Explains evaluation findings and incorporates patient and family in goal setting.
  • Implements treatment protocols based on evaluation findings and collaborates with other healthcare professionals.
  • Completes discharge planning and ensures timely, accurate documentation of care.

MedStar Health is looking for an Occupational Therapist to join our team at MedStar Harbor Hospital!

The Occupational Therapist provides occupational therapy services to patients, to include screening and evaluation, treatment planning, treatment implementation, treatment re-assessment and revision, patient/client re-evaluation, discharge planning, and documentation. The Occupational Therapistparticipates, asrequested, in program planning and protocol development andassiststhe team in meeting established goals.

Primary Duties:

Providesevaluation services including review of pertinenthistoricalinformation, performance of specific assessments, and determination of recommendations and documentation of results. Explains evaluation findings and treatmentplantopatientand family and incorporatespatientand family in the goals setting.

Demonstratesproficiencyin implementation of treatment protocols based upon evaluation findings, the patient‘s presentation, and the evolving health care environment. Consultswith other healthcare professionals asindicated. Recognizes and documents changes in patient‘s condition requiring modification of the plan of care and/or the need for medical/rehabilitation consultation.

Completesappropriate dischargeplanning and follow-up care. Accurately andtimelydocuments and charges for patient care activitiesconsideringour evolving health care environment, painting a clear picture of the patient‘s course of care including focusedinitialevaluation/plan of care thatestablishesbaseline and goals, legible daily encounter notes, interim progress summaries, and discharge evaluation.

Demonstrates effective time management and meets productivity expectations. Managean accurateschedule. Demonstrates a professional commitment toprovidefrictionless patient access to care through flexibility, adaptability, creativity, and actions/behaviors that display empathy in our patient consumer driven environment.

Takes initiative in pursuing and directing continuing education for professional growth and competency for self and organization. Serves as a clinical instructor to assign students.Assistswith orientation and mentoring of new staff, students, volunteers, and technicians.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy.

Maryland, District of Columbia (DC), and/or Virginia licensure asnecessary for your specific location(s).

American Heart Association’s BLS (Basic Life Support).

This position has a hiring range of : USD $74,214.00 - USD $134,596.00 /Yr.
