Chicago Behavioral Hospital in Des Plaines, Illinois is seeking an Occupational Therapist (OT) to design and implement engaging activity services for patients, contributing to treatment goals and overall well-being. You will work with an interdisciplinary team to provide continuous care, interaction, and positive role modeling in a behavioral health setting.

The role requires a Masters in Occupational Therapy, 1 year of related psychiatric care experience, and OT licensure (OTR/L).

Qualifications

• Masters Degree or higher in Occupational Therapy.
• One year of related experience with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques.
• Licensure as OT with state/national governing body (OTR/L).
• May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Observe and apply sound judgment to patients' physical and mental conditions/needs.
• Document and communicate changes in patient's appearance, behavior, and ability to work towards treatment plan goals.
• Provide assessment in psychosocial/leisure and recreational skills development/deficiency.
• Assist patients in achieving their optimum level of independent functioning.
• Plan and implement activity therapy for assigned patient caseload within the facility.
• Model and teach patients appropriate social, coping, and stress management techniques.
• Contribute to treatment plans with specific goals and interventions in therapeutic activities.

Schedule: 9a-5:30p, five shifts per week, including every other weekend

Your Experience Matters What We’re Looking For

• Education: Masters Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Occupational Therapy.
• Experience: One (1) year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
• Licensure: Certification or licensure by state and/or national governing body in of the following areas:

OTR/L.

Compensation

This is a full-time role and the expected compensation range for this role is $32.00 - $36.00 an hour. We’re eager to engage with all qualified candidates, and consideration will be provided to experience and skill level. Join us as our Occupational Therapist (OT)!
