Qualifications

• Licensed or eligible to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the states of practice.
• NBCOT certification preferred for Sanford Health facilities.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or within first 60 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions to identify barriers to daily living activities and develop individualized therapy plans.
• Implement treatments using activities and exercises to help patients regain skills for daily tasks.
• Teach patients and families techniques for improving independence and adapting to impairments.
• Collaborate with doctors, nurses, therapists, and social workers to develop comprehensive care plans and achieve optimal outcomes.
• Maintain accurate records of treatment plans, patient progress, and outcomes in line with healthcare standards.

Job Description

• Evaluate patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions to identify barriers to daily living activities and develop individualized therapy plans.
• Implement treatments using activities and exercises to help patients regain skills needed for daily tasks such as dressing, eating, and personal care.
• Teach patients and their families techniques for improving independence in daily activities and adapting to physical, cognitive, or sensory impairments.
• Work with doctors, nurses, physical therapists, and social workers to develop comprehensive care plans and achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate records of treatment plans, patient progress, and outcomes in line with healthcare standards and regulations.

Qualifications

• Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure.
• Must be licensed in the state(s) of practice as Occupational Therapist.
• When working at a Sanford Health Facility (not required but preferred for GSS Facilities): Must also be certified through the National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). When applicable, may require valid driver's license. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications. Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within the first 60 days of employment.
• In the states of North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota, new graduates in the process of testing with the board, will be considered with the possession of a temporary license.
