Job summary

East Hawaii Region of Hawai`i Health Systems Corporation seeks an Occupational Therapist III to evaluate and treat patients across inpatient, outpatient, behavioral health, and long-term care settings. You will develop individualized plans, educate patients and families, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support rehabilitation services in the East Hawaii Region.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).
  • Licensed Occupational Therapist in the State of Hawaii
  • Certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within one (1) month of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and re-evaluate patients, develop individualized treatment plans, and implement evidence-based occupational therapy interventions.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on treatment plans, adaptive equipment, home safety, and discharge planning to promote successful recovery.
  • Document evaluations, treatment progress, patient outcomes, and billing information accurately and in accordance with regulatory and departmental standards.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams to coordinate patient care, recommend equipment, and support discharge planning.
  • Fabricate splints and adaptive devices as needed and provide consultation for patients requiring specialized occupational therapy services.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, maintain professional competencies, supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants and interns as assigned, and perform other related duties.

The Occupational Therapist III evaluates and treats patients across inpatient, outpatient, behavioral health, and long-term care settings to improve functional independence and quality of life. This position develops individualized treatment plans, provides patient and caregiver education, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, and supports rehabilitation services across the East Hawaii Region, including coverage at Honokaʻa Hospital and Kaʻū Hospital as needed.

Key Responsibilities

* Rates listed for paid holidays, vacation and sick days are for 1.0 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) positions assigned to 8 hour shifts. Accruals for these benefits are otherwise prorated based on FTE.

Pre-Employment Health Requirements

Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
