Job summary

Cottage Health in Santa Barbara seeks an Occupational Therapist II to interpret and deliver occupational therapy for patients. The ideal candidate will uphold the values of excellence, integrity, and compassion in their practice.

Responsibilities include planning individualized therapy programs, ensuring a safe environment, and applying clinical skills. Candidates must be graduates of an accredited Occupational Therapy school, hold relevant licenses, and have at least 6 months of experience. Additional certifications preferred but not mandatory.

Qualifications

Job description

Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital seeks an Occupational Therapist II, an independent clinician who is a leader in applying the Cottage Health Values of excellence, integrity, and compassion in patient care.

Responsibilities

• Interpret, organize, apply, and modify medically prescribed occupational therapy to inpatients and/or outpatients.
• Plan and implement programs to meet individual needs, providing care consistent with the Scope of Practice Standards and Code of Ethics of the American Occupational Therapy Association and the California Board of Occupational Therapy.
• Provide care in a safe environment utilizing appropriate communication with sensitivity to special populations, including patients with diverse cultural backgrounds, age, developmental issues and physical impairments.
• Apply technical, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills as a Level II clinician to provide skilled and effective care.

Education

• Minimum: Graduation from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy (Master’s Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree with equivalent experience).

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

• Minimum: License applicant or licensed Occupational Therapist in the state of California; American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certified.
• Required: Apply for California Pediatric Specialty Clinics (CCS) paneling within 6 months of employment or within 6 months of meeting minimum requirements.
• Preferred: Valid California Driver’s License; Hand Therapy or Physical Agent Modalities (PAMS) certification by California Board of Occupational Therapy.

Technical Requirements

• Knowledge of occupational therapy techniques and modalities, body mechanics, and procedures for handling and moving patients.
• Basic computer skills for chart review and documentation in electronic medical records.

Years of Related Work Experience

• Minimum: 6 months of experience as a licensed Occupational Therapist.
• Preferred: Pediatric, PICU, NICU experience with completed competency and clinical leadership.
