UNC Health’s Center Rehab Care in Chapel Hill, NC is seeking a Pediatric Occupational Therapist I in a 20-hour per week, part-time role. You will provide high-quality developmental, orthopedic, and neurological rehabilitation for patients birth to 21 years old within a multidisciplinary pediatric team.

You will collaborate with therapists, physicians, social workers, and nurses, engage in mentorship, student placements, and program development while delivering compassionate, evidence-based care

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
  • Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in North Carolina.
  • BLS within 3 months of hire date.
  • No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Completes occupational therapy documentation, billing, and statistics per team guidelines.
  • Administers assessment tools to establish a plan of care and modifications; communicates for continuity of care.
  • Mentors assistive personnel and delegates responsibilities as per licensing guidelines.
  • Provides clinical precepting and teaching for students and/or staff under guidance; provides feedback and coaching.
  • Assists in planning and coordinating clinical programs; participates in departmental meetings and in-services.

UNC Hospitals Rehabilitation Service Line is seeking a compassionate and dedicated part time Pediatric Occupational Therapist I to join our multidisciplinary team at the Center for Rehabilitation Care in Chapel Hill, NC. In this 20 hour per week position, you will provide high-quality care across the pediatric continuum for patients birth to 21 years of age, including developmental, orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation. Diagnoses seen include but are not limited to autism, sensory processing disorders, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, muscular dystrophy, hemiplegia, fine motor delay, brachial plexus, spina bifida, prematurity and traumatic brain injury.


This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population and colleagues that are truly invested and passionate about the care they deliver. At the Center for Rehabilitation, you will work in collaboration with our dynamic and experienced pediatric-focused therapy team that includes physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists, as well as pediatric physiatrists, social workers, and pediatric nurse coordinators.


We are also engaged in weekly to monthly interdisciplinary clinics to provide specialized, holistic care for the following diagnoses, Spina Bifida, Cerebral Palsy, Limb Deficiency, Special Infant Care Clinic (SICC), Neuromuscular Diagnoses, Brain Injury, Charcot Marie Tooth, Down Syndrome, and Rett Syndrome. Our team is at the heart of this growth and development to ensure that we are providing the best high-quality care to our patients and their families. In addition to patient care, you will engage in mentorship, professional development, student placements, and clinical program development, allowing you to make a meaningful impact on individual patients, future therapists, and the broader community.

  • Mentors assistive personnel and delegates responsibilities as per licensing board guidelines.

  • Provides clinical precepting and teaching for students and/or staff under the guidance of the clinical specialist or other subject matter experts; Provides regular feedback, coaching and mentoring. Evaluates the learner's performance.

  • Assists in the planning and coordinating of clinical programs in collaboration with the clinical specialist or manager. Participates in continuous improvement in clinical services by attending and participating in departmental meetings and in-services.

  • Exhibits effective communication and interprofessional skills; requires physical stamina and repetitive movements, including, but not limited to, sitting, standing, kneeling, walking, and squatting during patient interventions while supporting one's weight; can engage in high-level problem-solving to ensure patient safety during mobilization.
