UNC Hospitals Rehabilitation Services is accepting applications for a full-time Acute Care Occupational Therapist I position. Supporting our Enhanced Rehabilitation program in the acute hospital setting, the OT I will provide comprehensive consultations and therapeutic interventions to a diverse patient population with varying acuity levels. This person will collaborate directly with the interdisciplinary team to provide exceptional patient-centered care, facilitating functional improvement and discharge planning throughout care transitions.

Excellent time management and communication skills are required for this fast-paced environment; clinical experience in acute care is strongly preferred. Summary

The Occupational Therapist I provides evidence-based evaluation, treatment interventions, and educational instruction to patients and caregivers with various diagnoses, disabilities, and impairments affecting client factors (body function and structures), behavior patterns/roles/habits, and occupational performance. The clinician provides student shadowing, clinical instruction, and participates in departmental and community continuing education and outreach.

Responsibilities

1. Completes occupational therapy documentation, billing, and statistics per team guidelines. Manage daily caseload with efficiency and efficacy. Meets productivity standards per team guidelines.
2. Administers assessment tools or instruments to assist in establishing a plan of care and subsequent modifications and manages resources to accomplish patient goals; Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care.
3. Mentors assistive personnel and delegates responsibilities as per licensing board guidelines.
4. Provides clinical precepting and teaching for students and/or staff under the guidance of the clinical specialist or other subject matter experts; Provides regular feedback, coaching and mentoring. Evaluates the learner's performance.
5. Assists in the planning and coordinating of clinical programs in collaboration with the clinical specialist or manager. Participates in continuous improvement in clinical services by attending and participating in departmental meetings and in-services.
