Job summary

Luminis Health is seeking an Occupational Therapist to evaluate and treat patients from pediatric to geriatric in our hospital setting. You will perform therapy interventions and document per regulatory standards.

The role also includes supervising staff and collaborating with physicians to triage caseload while contributing to patient safety initiatives and ongoing education. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits accompany this position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Acute care or related experience preferred; however, new graduates will be considered depending on current departmental staffing.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts Therapy evaluations and treatments using a variety of treatment techniques and documents according to departmental policies.
  • Demonstrates ability to cross cover by evaluating and treating patients with a variety of diagnoses in various units.
  • Participates in departmental process improvement initiatives (huddle, metrics, and innovative ideas).
  • Meets departmental productivity standards and completes productivity logs in a timely manner.
  • Participates in quality and patient safety initiatives, engaging in excellent customer service practices, including ICARE.
  • Provides supervision to staff Therapist Assistants, Rehab Aides, students, and volunteers.
  • Consults with physicians, nursing staff, and other clinicians to increase knowledge of therapy services and triage caseload.
  • Functions as a therapy leader performing administrative tasks (i.e. patient scheduling, staffing matrix).

Job description

Position Objective

Evaluates and provides treatment to pediatric through geriatric patients for Occupational Therapy services providing therapeutic intervention specific to the individual needs of the patient. Completes interventions and documentation according to regulatory and departmental standards.

  2. Participate in department or hospital initiative for the community as appropriate.

  3. Demonstrates the ability and required competencies to cross cover by evaluating and treating patients with a variety of diagnoses in various units.

  4. Participates in departmental process improvement initiatives (huddle, metrics,and innovative ideas).

  5. Meets departmental productivity standards and completes productivity logs in a timely manner.

  6. Participates in quality and patient safety initiatives, engaging in excellent customer service practices, including but not limited to, following ICARE.

  7. Actively participates in interdisciplinary meetings, departmental in-service activities, evidence based journal article review, and/or AAMC-funded continuing education courses.

  8. Provides technical supervision, direction, and support to staff Therapist Assistants, Rehab Aides, students, and volunteers.

  9. Consults with and serves as a resource for physicians, nursing staff, and other clinicians to increase knowledge of therapy services. Demonstrates ability to use clinical decision-making skills to triage caseload and problem solve patient care issues.

  10. Functions as a therapy leader performing administrative tasks as needed (i.e. patient scheduling, completing predictive staffing matrix).


Educational/Experience Requirements

The minimum level of education and experience for this position includes:



  • Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy.

  • Acute care or related experience preferred; however, new graduates will be considered depending on current departmental staffing.


Required License/Certifications


  • Current license to practice Occupational Therapy by the Maryland Board of Occupational Therapy Practice.

  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare provider BLS Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
