Job summary

Luminis Health invites applications for an Occupational Therapist to evaluate patients from neonate to geriatric and provide therapeutic interventions per department standards. You will assess appropriateness and effectiveness of services and document patient progress across ages.

The role involves conducting evaluations, meeting productivity standards, participating in quality and safety initiatives, and supervising OT staff, while staying aligned with hospital policies and communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Acute care or related experience preferred; new graduates may be considered.
• Current Maryland OT license required; Maryland Board of Occupational Therapy Practice license.
• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Conducts Occupational Therapy evaluations and treatments with varied diagnoses and units.
• Meets departmental productivity standards and completes logs timely.
• Engages in quality and patient safety initiatives and supports physicians, nursing, and other clinicians.
• Stays updated on hospital policies and departmental requirements; participates in huddles and communications.
• Provides supervision and support to staff OTAs, PT Aides, students, and volunteers.

Job description

Position Objective:

Evaluates patients, neonatal through geriatric, for occupational therapy services and provides therapeutic intervention according to departmental standards. Assesses the appropriateness and effectiveness of services provided to patients and documents same according to departmental standards and the special needs of patients of all ages.

Essential Job Duties:

1. Conducts Occupational Therapy evaluations and treatments, involving varied diagnoses and units, using a variety of appropriate treatment techniques and documents according to established departmental policies and procedures.


2. Meets departmental productivity standards and completes productivity logs in a timely manner.


3. Participates in quality and patient safety initiatives, engaging in excellent customer service practices, including but not limited to following ICARE. Also consults and serves as a resource for physicians, nursing staff, and other clinicians to increase knowledge of Occupational Therapy and to identify the need for Occupational Therapy services for patients of all ages.


4. Stays up to date on hospital policies, departmental requirements and process improvement initiatives by reading all correspondence (meeting minutes, weekly updates, etc) and participating in huddles. Responds to communication and requests in a timely fashion.


5. Provides technical supervision, direction, and support to staff Occupational Therapist Assistants, Physical Therapy Aides, students, and volunteers.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

The minimum level of education and experience for this position includes:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy.


• Acute care or related experience preferred; however, new graduates will be considered depending on current departmental staffing

Required License/Certifications:

• Current license to practice Occupational Therapy by the Maryland Board of Occupational Therapy Practice.


• Current American Heart Association Healthcare provider BLS CPR certification.
