UPMC Home Health in Bedford County is hiring a full-time Occupational Therapist to deliver one-on-one care in patients’ homes within the Bedford County area. You’ll work with a diverse patient population and collaborate with nurses, social workers, and aides to guide care in the home setting.

Responsibilities include developing OT plans, documenting visits, supervising the COTA, and promoting patient independence across birth to geriatrics.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an Occupational Therapy curriculum or eligible for national registration.
  • Ability to supervise the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Experience in home health or direct patient care preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide occupational therapy services and develop treatment plans with the referring physician.
  • Evaluate, plan, and treat patients to maximize functional independence.
  • Supervise the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and mentor staff.
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation including visit notes and orders.
  • Collaborate with nurses, social workers, and other team members to ensure quality care.
  • Participate in ongoing continuing education and compliance training.

Responsibilities
  • Standard Responsibilities Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.

  • Identifies develops and participates in process improvement opportunities within the home health agency that will enhance the quality of services we provide.
  • Performs duties and job responsibilities in a fashion which coincides with the service management philosophy of UPMC Home Healthcare towards patients, visitors, staff, peers, physicians and other departments within the organization.
  • Continually develops professional skills by assuming responsibility for on-going continuing education.
  • Assigns and supervises the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Advises and consults with the family, inter-intradisciplinary team members, physicians and other professionals, as appropriate, to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Maintains and completes all documentation promptly and accurately including visit assessment, OASIS, 485 and Verbal Orders on the laptop device or in written documentation while in the patient's home and within the agency and regulatory standards. Data syncs (transmits) information same day.
  • Provide occupational therapy services and participates in the development of an occupational therapy plan of treatment including modalities, frequency and treatment in collaboration with the referring physician for patients from birth to geriatrics to assist patient in obtaining maximum functional independence within the standards of occupational therapy.
  • Evaluates, plans, and treats patients in an effective Occupational Therapy Program including the use of modalities and assistive devices within the Standards of Occupational Therapy Practice.
  • Graduate of an Occupational Therapy curriculum accredited jointly by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation ofthe American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association; orIs eligible for the National Registration Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association; or Two (2) years of appropriate experience as an occupational therapist, and has achieved a satisfactory grade on a proficiencyexamination conducted, approved, or sponsored by the U.S. Public Health Service, except that such determinations of proficiency donot apply with respect to persons initially licensed by a State or seeking initial qualification as an occupational therapist after December31, 1977 required.One (1) year of Occupational Therapy experience to practice without supervision or less than one (1) year if practicing undersupervision, i.e., ALF/PCH, required.
