Job summary

IU Health seeks a pediatric occupational therapist to provide home-based care for children from birth to three under Indiana's Early Intervention Program (First Steps). Therapy focuses on daily living skills, sensory processing, feeding, and fine motor development in the family’s natural environment, aligned with the Individualized Family Services Plan.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, maintain current Indiana OT licensure, and meet BLS requirements.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in occupational therapy required or foreign-trained with equivalent coursework accepted by Indiana PLA.
  • Current licensure in Indiana and BLS certification required.
  • NBCOT certification preferred; early intervention credentialing may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide home-based, direct therapy and consultative services to patients from birth to age three via First Steps.
  • Address activities of daily living, sensory processing, feeding and fine motor development per IFSP.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and families in the child’s natural environment.

Overview

Location: Southeasten Johnson County and Shelby County

Requirements
  • Requires a Master's Degree from an accredited academic program in occupational therapy; or, if foreign trained, graduation from an occupational therapy education program outside the US with educationally equivalent coursework accepted by Indiana PLA.
  • Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Requires current licensure in the state of Indiana.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • May require credentialling for certification as an early interventionist.
  • Current certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) is preferred.
  • Advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
Roles and Responsibilities

Provides home-based, direct therapy intervention and consultative services to patients. Patient population may comprise children ages birth to three through Indiana's Early Intervention Program, First Steps. Provides services in collaboration with the family's natural environment via evidence-based treatments that address activities of daily living, sensory processing, feeding, and fine motor development in accordance with the established Individualized Family Services Plan. Identifies and assesses skills that impact the patient’s functional ability. Collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals.
