Responsibilities

• Evaluates patients, sets goals and implements treatment plans.
• Assesses and manages pain per guidelines.
• Treats patients ages from infant to elder.
• Educates patients and families on Occupational Therapy.
• Plans for discharge with the care team and documents progress.
• Ensures referrals, certifications and recertifications are up to date.
• Collaborates with program coordinator to secure approvals.

Educates patients, families, students and the community in the Occupational Therapy practice. Participates as a team member in the day to day operations of the department.**Essential Responsibilities:**1. Evaluates patients, establishes goals and implements treatment program per department’s procedures and standards of care in a supportive and caring environment.2. Appropriately assesses and manages pain in accordance with the established guidelines.3. Demonstrates the knowledge/skill necessary to provide care appropriate ranging in age from infant to elder4. Instructs patients and families in Occupational therapy procedures as part of a patient’s on going program as needed.5. Adequately plans for patient’s discharge involving other pertinent team members, when appropriate.6. Records and reports patient’s progress for review by members of Rehabilitation team and other third parties and meets all regulatory requirements. Written documentation includes date, time and is legible.7. Ensures referrals, certifications and re-certifications are accurate and up to date.8. Works collaboratively with Program coordinator to assure approval is in place.9. Has knowledge and awareness of insurance rules-tracks visit and approval end dates in a method that allows them to manage caseload and seek extensions as needed. Works collaboratively with front desk staff on getting extensions and avoiding denials.10. Prepares on a daily basis patient statistics and changes.**Required Qualifications:**1. Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy required.2. License Occupational Therapist License required., and Certificate 1 Basic Life Support required.3. 0-1 years related work experience required in Occupational Therapy.4. Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.**Preferred Qualifications:**1. Certification in Hand Therapy.2. One year of specialization in Hand Therapy.**Competencies:**1.
