Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a licensed physical therapist, occupational therapist, or speech-language pathologist to provide direct patient care and develop treatment plans for patients with disabilities, injuries, or disease in New York State.

The role requires 1–3 years of relevant experience and a current NY license plus any specialized certifications. You will work within an interdisciplinary team, document care, and participate in quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Current License to practice as a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Speech-Language Pathologist in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience and training, required.

Responsibilities

• Administers direct patient care per physician prescription following procedures and techniques.
• Utilizes evaluation techniques with efficiency and thoroughness.
• Designs a treatment program to achieve goals on specialized cases.
• Monitors patient tolerance/status and adjusts treatment as needed.
• Responds to department emergency procedures for patient safety.
• Submits documentation per department policies.
• Participates in quality improvement chart reviews.
• Attends family meetings and interacts with interdisciplinary staff.
• Inspects equipment and initiates repairs as needed.
• Performs related duties; all are essential functions under ADA.

Provides direct patient care by using and applying innovative and advanced skills and techniques to evaluate and treat patients with disabilities, injuries and/or disease using physical, chemical, and mechanical means in accordance with the written and signed prescription and/or referral of a state licensed physician or other State authorized practitioner.

Job Responsibility

1. 1.Administers direct patient care in accordance with the written and signed prescription of the referring physician or other State authorized practitioner following procedures, methods, techniques, and an analytical approach.
2. 2.Utilizes appropriate evaluation techniques with efficiency and thoroughness.
3. 3.Designs a treatment program to achieve established goals on specialized patient cases.
4. 4.Makes accurate observations of patient tolerance and/or status during treatment and demonstrates the ability to modify a treatment program as needed.
5. 5.Responds appropriately to established department emergency procedures for patient safety and care, when necessary.
6. 6.Submits required documentation in accordance with the policies and procedures of the department.
7. 7.Participates in quality improvement chart reviews and activities.
8. 8.Attends family meetings/conferences and interacts with members of the interdisciplinary staff pertaining to the welfare and management of assigned patients.
9. 9.Makes periodic inspections of equipment, identifies equipment malfunctions and initiates repairs by contacting appropriate service departments.
