Job summary

Midwest Health, Inc. is seeking an Occupational Therapist to treat injured, ill, or disabled residents through therapeutic use of daily activities.

The role focuses on helping patients develop daily living skills, with emphasis on geriatric and rehabilitation programs. The OT will evaluate patients within one business day of referral, design patient-specific programs (ADL, mobility, neuromuscular re-education), supervise the COTA, and document treatments for billing and charting.

Qualifications

• ADL re-training and functional mobility programs.
• Neuromuscular re-education techniques.
• Energy conservation and joint protection strategies.
• Work simplification and fine/gross motor skills training.

Responsibilities

• Comply with the Facility’s personnel, safety, and corporate policies and procedures.
• Report witnessed or reported allegations of resident abuse/neglect immediately to the Administrator or Director of Nursing.
• Treat residents, family members, visitors, and team members with dignity and respect.
• Maintain the confidentiality of all resident and family information.
• Responsible for evaluating the patient within one business day of written referral from the Doctor.
• Plan, administer and supervise the COTA in an appropriate treatment plan.
• Communicate with the referring physician and rehabilitation team regarding the patient’s total treatment program.
• Maintain an accurate daily record of treatments given to patients including billing and charting.
• Will attain an efficiency standard for delivery of occupational therapy services.
• May provide in-service education to facilities, supportive staff, students and community.
