Job summary

UPMC West Shore – Helen M Simpson Rehabilitation Hospital is seeking a licensed Occupational Therapist for a full-time role at our inpatient rehabilitation facility. The position emphasizes evaluation and development of therapy plans, with delegation of therapy services to deliver effective community re-entry outcomes.

You will educate patients and families, coordinate with the care team, and contribute to an interdisciplinary clinical ladder to support professional growth.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state licensure or eligibility for state licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
• Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) or completion within the first 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates all assigned patients and develops, implements, and modifies treatment plans per patient needs and physician direction.
• Delegates and directs all therapy services for assigned patients, designing functional programs for return to community activities.
• Educates patients, families, students, co-workers and self on therapy concepts and progress.
• Performs other professional duties related to patient care and therapy program delivery.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates all assigned patients and develops, implements, and modifies treatment plans in accordance with the patient’s needs and physician direction.
• Responsible for delegation and direction of all discipline-specific therapy services for those assigned patients, ensuring design of functional treatment programs for effective return to community activities.
• Serves as an educator of patients, families, students, co‑workers and self.
• Performs other professional duties associated with the care of the patient, development of discipline-specific therapy services, and design of program delivery.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current and valid state licensure or eligibility for state licensure as an Occupational Therapist required.
• Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) or completion within the first 90 days of employment required.
