Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a pediatric occupational therapist to provide comprehensive OT services, including evaluation, treatment planning, and contributing to care continuity. The role supports a pediatric caseload with collaboration among physicians, nurses, and therapists within the Specialty Center – Rehab at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital.

Required: OT Bachelor’s degree from ACOTE-accredited program and current Michigan licensure, CPR certification (or within 90 days).

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessment, treatment, discharge planning, and collaborate with other health care providers.
• Document patient care and billing information timely and in accordance with department standards.

• Mentor other staff as part of the team.
• Delegate aspects of patient care to support staff per MI Licensure Administrative Rules, with supervision as needed.
• Maintain clinical productivity standards and ongoing education.

Job description

General Summary

• Provides comprehensive occupational therapy services primarily to a pediatric caseload, while also treating clients with neurological, orthopedic, and hand therapy.
• Performs occupational therapy evaluation and develops treatment plans to help patients develop, recover, or maintain daily living and work skills.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessment, treatment, discharge planning, and collaborate with other health care providers.
• Document patient care and billing information timely and in accordance with department standards.
• Communicate with co-workers and other professionals, including physicians and nurses, to ensure optimal patient care.
• Serve as a team member in patient care and mentor other staff.
• Delegate aspects of patient care to support staff per OT/OTA MI Licensure Administrative Rules, providing necessary communication and supervision.
• Maintain clinical productivity standards and technical clinical expertise through ongoing education.
• Participate in in-services, staff meetings, quality activities, and aspects of program development.
• Maintain awareness of patient safety issues within the clinic and assist in the maintenance of patient care equipment as needed.
• Maintain patient confidentiality according to HFHS HIPAA policies.
• Adhere to all applicable Federal/State law and regulations, AOTA standards of practice, MI Licensure requirements, HFHS Integrity/Compliance Program, Code of Conduct, and other HFHS policies and procedures.
• Represent HFHS at community and professional functions when requested.
• Participate in student education programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Required

• Occupational Therapy bachelor’s degree from an ACOTE-accredited program.

Certification/Licensure Required

• Current State of Michigan licensure.
• Current CPR certification (or obtain within 90 days of hire).
