Job description

Summary

The Occupational Therapy Assistant in Home Health is responsible for providing occupational therapy to patients in their homes to restore them to their fullest physical ability. The Occupational Therapy Assistant performs duties in accordance with policies, procedures, and the established plan of care.

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, follow all state-specific laws governing occupational therapy in home care, and adhere to the treatment plan set by the supervising OT.
  • Perform only procedures qualified and trained for, and recommend changes to the plan of care as needed.
  • Instruct and assist patients in evidence-based treatments within the scope of practice and legal regulations.
  • Observe, record, and report patient responses and condition changes to the supervising OT, nurse, and/or physician. Coordinate care with healthcare team members.
  • Educate patients, families, caregivers, and team members about therapy within the scope of practice.
  • Visit patients across the service area and nearby agencies as needed.
  • Complete and submit progress notes for each visit as per policy.
  • Adhere to LHC Therapy Standards of Practice.
  • Participate in staff meetings and committees as requested.
  • Maintain schedule flexibility, including weekend rotations and observed holidays, to meet patient needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

License Requirements

  • Current OTA licensure in the state
  • Current CPR certification
  • Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to a dependable vehicle or public transportation

Additional State Requirements

  • GA: No additional state-specific requirements.
