Job description

Summary

The Occupational Therapy Assistant in Home Health is responsible for providing occupational therapy to patients in their homes to help restore their physical abilities. The Occupational Therapy Assistant performs duties in accordance with policies, procedures, and the established plan of care.

Responsibilities

  1. Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, follow all state-specific laws governing occupational therapy in home care, and adhere to the treatment plan set by the supervising OT.
  2. Perform only those procedures for which qualified and trained, and recommend changes to the plan of care as needed.
  3. Instruct and assist patients in evidence-based treatments within the scope of practice and according to state laws.
  4. Observe, record, and report patient responses to treatment and any changes in condition to the supervising OT, nurse, and/or physician. Coordinate care with healthcare team members as appropriate.
  5. Educate patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members about therapy within the scope of practice.
  6. Visit patients across the service area and nearby agencies as needed.
  7. Complete and submit progress notes for each visit as per agency policy.
  8. Follow LHC Therapy Standards of Practice in providing services.
  9. Participate in staff meetings and committees as requested.
  10. Maintain schedule flexibility, including participation in weekend rotations and holiday availability to meet patient needs.
  11. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

License Requirements

  • Current OTA licensure in the state
  • Current CPR certification
  • Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation

  • GA: No additional state-specific requirements
