Job summary

Ahava Therapy Services in Kingsport, TN is seeking a PRN Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) to join our in-house rehabilitation team at Wexford House, a 173-bed skilled nursing facility providing short- and long-term therapy.

You will deliver OT treatments under the supervision of the OT, assist with tests and evaluations, document progress, collaborate with physicians, family members, and other professionals, and support quality improvement and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved OTA program.
• Active OTA license or eligibility.
• Current BLS/CPR certification.
• Strong observational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide occupational therapy treatments to residents according to the OT plan.
• Assist the OT with tests, evaluations, and complex procedures.
• Observe, record, and report conditions and responses related to duties.
• Maintain daily treatment records and progress notes.
• Collaborate with family, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
• Support department and equipment care, inventory, and safety.
• Participate in in-service programs and team meetings.
• Engage in continuing education opportunities relevant to the discipline.
• Adhere to Ahava Therapy Services’ standards and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and facility conferences.
• Perform other duties as assigned and manage productivity.

Responsibilities

• Provide occupational therapy treatments to residents according to the occupational therapist's treatment plans
• Assist the Occupational Therapist with tests, evaluations, and complex treatment procedures
• Observe, record, and report conditions, reactions, and responses related to assigned duties
• Maintain daily treatment records and document progress notes as directed
• Assist the therapist in consulting with family members, physicians, and other healthcare professionals
• Assist with the care of the occupational therapy department and equipment
• Assist with in-service programs and other meetings as assigned
• Access continuing education opportunities appropriate to the discipline and responsibilities
• Act in compliance with Ahava Therapy Services’ regulatory and professional standards
• Attend and participate in rehabilitation team conferences and other facility meetings
• Adhere to company and facility policies and participate in quality improvement and safety programs
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Understand reimbursement by various payers and allocate therapy resources efficiently
• Demonstrate knowledge of OBRA regulations, HIPAA, Local Coverage Determination, and third-party reimbursement guidelines
• Support the company’s mission and vision and project a professional image
• Independently perform duties and recognize situations where direct supervision is needed
• Maintain expected productivity levels

Qualifications
