Job summary

A healthcare organization is seeking an entry-level Occupational Therapist Assistant to provide therapeutic modalities under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. The assistant will implement treatment programs, communicate treatment responses, and document patient progress. Candidates must have an Associate Degree in Occupational Therapist Assistant and be licensed to practice in Wisconsin. A valid driver’s license and CPR certification are required.

Qualifications

• Entry-level position with a supervision requirement from a licensed Occupational Therapist.

• Certification in BLS and/or CPR required within 90 days of hire.

Occupational Therapist Assistant Inpatient

POSITION PURPOSE

Under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, carries out all therapeutic modalities or treatment programs planned by the Therapist. Identifies and communicates treatment programs planned by the Therapist. Identifies and communicates treatment responses and/or difficulties to the Therapist. Progresses and alters the treatment programs as education directs.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED

Associate Degree in: Occupational Therapist Assistant

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Entry Level

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

• Valid driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of Wisconsin and/or Illinois based on job assignment location.
• Current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
• Valid licensure to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the State of Wisconsin.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

Ability to read, write, hear, speak and comprehend the English language.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Follows treatment plan as outlined by licensed Occupational Therapist.
• Transfers patients as needed for therapy.
• Performs patient/ family teaching.
• Communicates with Physical Therapist in patient treatment planning.
• Provides documentation of patient treatment.
• Administers medications in a timely manner, safely and in accordance with policy and procedure.
