Job Description
Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) at Springfield Regional Medical Center. Provide patient care under the guidance of a supervising Occupational Therapist or Licensed Occupational Therapist.
Responsibilities
- Under guidance of supervising OTR/L, acquire pertinent information and implement comprehensive program using varied techniques and treatment activities.
- Provide treatment to diverse diagnostic populations and complete supporting documentation according to hospital policy and State Practice Act.
- Instruct care giver/family members in home exercise program as related to patient’s functional and self-care status.
- Demonstrate appropriate and effective written, verbal, and nonverbal communication with team members through the continuum of care.
- Assess patient pain interfering with optimal level of function of participation in rehabilitation; make appropriate interventions to reduce pain after consulting with supervising OTR/L and make appropriate physician contact as indicated.
Qualifications
- Current state licensure as a certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
- Previous experience in rehabilitation or acute care preferred.
- Current BLS/CPR required.
- Full mobility and ability to participate in vigorous activity.
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with all constituents (patients, families, peers, and other healthcare team members).
- Must be physically able to lift, support, and move patients.
