Summary
The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) assists in the implementation of treatment programs and plan of care as directed by the licensed Occupational Therapist, in accordance with current State Practice Act.
- Provides occupational therapy treatments to patients/residents as determined through the therapy plan of care established by the Occupational Therapist and State Practice Act.
- Gathers data for screens and reports the results to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Records data on patient/resident responses to treatments and communicates to the Occupational Therapist overseeing treatment plan.
- Documents up-to-date services provided to patients/residents, includes daily progress note, weekly summary, and therapy summary sheet.
- Participates in conferences, consultations, and educational programs designed to improve patient/resident care and staff performance as directed by the Director of Rehabilitation.
- Instructs patient/resident, family, and/or caregivers in occupational therapy recommendations to be continued upon patient/resident discharge as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
- Assists in the assurance that the physical surroundings and equipment are sanitary, orderly and free from conditions that may cause safety hazards.
- Participates in scheduled in-service programs related to work topics as directed by the Director of Rehabilitation.
- Working with the Occupational Therapist and Director of Rehabilitation assists in the supervision and education of affiliating students as allowed by State Practice Act.
- Performs other duties as assigned and allowed by State Practice Acts and regulation.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of and compliance with the facility Compliance program, policies and procedures, applicable federal and state laws, rules and regulations.
- Demonstrates compliance with the protection of patient/resident health information and company sensitive information including compliance with company policies and procedures, applicable federal and state laws, rules, and regulations.

Qualifications
- Graduate of an AOTA accredited school for occupational therapy assistants and eligible for licensure in the state in which the program is located.
- Prior experience in long-term care is preferred.
- Ability to work flexible work hours to support state and federal resident care requirements.
