Job summary

Topaz Fiscal Services is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant to provide clinical services under physician orders and support the Rehabilitation team. The role requires close communication with the OT and adherence to regulatory standards.

The successful candidate will participate in ongoing education, maintain documentation, and collaborate in family and interdisciplinary meetings to ensure quality patient care in a treatment environment.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Occupational Therapy is required.
• Current state licensure in Florida.
• Knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance with state and federal regulations related to treatment environments.

Responsibilities

• Provides clinical services to residents under physician’s orders.
• Reports patient progress, complications, and response to treatment to the Occupational Therapist.
• Assists Occupational Therapist in procedures, tests, and complex treatments to ensure safe evaluation and treatment of patients.
• Participates in continuing education and other learning experiences for professional growth.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient, facility, and physician information.
• Maintains accurate billing information in accordance with procedures.
• Attends interdisciplinary meetings to relay clinical findings and recommendations.
• Attends family meetings as appropriate.
• Adheres to Rehabilitation department and facility documentation requirements.
• Conducts staff training/education via in-services and consultations.
• Reviews and follows facility policies and Rehab Policy and Procedure Manual.
• Supervises non-professional staff as appropriate.

Job description

The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant must have: an Associate’s Degree in Occupational Therapy, a current license in the state, excellent oral and written communication skills, and knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance within state and federal regulations, related to the environment of treatment.

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant:

• Provides clinical services to appropriate residents under physician’s orders
• Reports information relating to the patient’s progress, complications, and/or response to treatment to the Occupational Therapist
• Assists Occupational Therapist in performing procedures, tests, and complex treatments to ensure the safe, effective evaluation and treatment of patients
• Assumes responsibility for continued professional growth and development by participating in continuing education programs and other appropriate learning experiences
• Maintains confidentiality of all patient, facility, and physician-related information
• Maintains accurate billing information, in accordance with procedures, on a daily basis
• Attends and participates in interdisciplinary meetings, as appropriate, to relay clinical findings and recommendations to other members of the rehab team
• Attends and participates in family meetings, as appropriate
• Adheres to documentation requirements of the Rehabilitation department and the facility
• Conducts staff training/education, as appropriate, via formal and informal in-services and consultations
• Reviews and follows the policies and procedures outlined by the facility and Rehab Policy and Procedure Manual
