Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

In this role, you will work under the direction of a Registered Occupational Therapist (OTR) to support clients in achieving their therapy goals through personalized, high-quality care. Position Summary

The COTA assists with assessing, planning, implementing, and documenting occupational therapy programs for clients under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist. This role follows all corporate guidelines, policies, and regulatory standards to ensure safe, effective, and compliant care.

What You’ll Do
Assessment
  • Assist in assessing clients’ activities of daily living (ADL) function
  • Communicate screening and assessment findings to the OTR
  • Review client conditions and complete therapy screenings as requested
  • Share results with clients, families, and care team members
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and timely
  • Monitor and report client progress toward goals
  • Assist in reassessing and updating care plans as needed
Planning
  • Help develop individualized treatment plans to meet client goals
  • Communicate therapy plans and progress with clients and families
  • Collaborate with the OTR regarding treatment planning and updates
  • Partner with the interdisciplinary team for discharge and transition planning
  • Support discharge planning and documentation
  • Ensure completion of all required discharge records
Implementation
  • Deliver therapeutic interventions based on the established plan of care
  • Prioritize treatments according to client needs and physician orders
  • Educate clients and families on treatment purpose and progress
  • Communicate ongoing updates with the care team and OTR
  • Maintain accurate, timely daily treatment documentation
  • Follow all precautions related to diagnoses and therapy techniques
  • Communicate changes in condition to the OTR and care team
