JOB SUMMARY
Works under the supervision of the Clinical Team Leader and Registered Occupational Therapist seeing patients in Durham and Orange Counties. Provides individualized patient care for patients in all developmental stages throughout the life span including: Neonates (0-28 days), Infants (1-12 months), Children (1-12 years), Adolescents (13-17 years), Adults (18-72 years), and Geriatrics (72+ years), following established policies, procedures, and guidelines as directed by the Occupational Therapist. Participates in professional development programs. Provides patient consultation and communicates effectively with other professionals. Performs other duties as assigned.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
- Administers prescribed occupational therapy treatments to patients across all age groups.
- Assists with program development and discipline-specific operations to ensure efficiency and productivity.
- Communicates and documents information appropriately, adhering to agency policies and discipline-specific guidelines.
- Contributes to the effectiveness of the program.
- Organizes and performs work efficiently.
- Maintains and adjusts schedules to optimize agency performance.
- Demonstrates a daily commitment to the agency's values.
- Maintains positive interpersonal relations with all members of the agency.
- Promotes and maintains customer satisfaction.
- Embodies the mission, vision, and values of the agency daily.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Education: Associate degree from an accredited occupational therapy assistant program.
- Licensure / Certifications: Licensure in the state where therapy is provided (NC/SC); CPR certification.
- Experience: Preferably one year.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of home health and occupational therapy procedures, ability to manipulate patient care equipment, including modalities and assistive devices; proper patient transfer and guarding techniques; manual therapy skills.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact professionally and positively with the public, co-workers, patients, families, and physicians.
- Physical Requirements: Significant locomotion, frequent lifting over 50 lbs, transferring patients over 100 lbs, reaching, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, occasional overhead reaching, stair climbing, sitting, and fine motor tasks.
- Mental Abilities: Application of rehabilitation principles, professional reasoning, prioritization, learning new skills, and using computer technology.
- Sensory Requirements: Ability to see and communicate clearly for clinical tasks.
- Hazard Exposure: Noise, congestion, communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens, patient assault, and injury risks from body mechanics, uncooperative patients, families, and community hazards.
- Work Hours: 40 hours/week, variable schedule including weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Population Served: Adolescents, adults, geriatrics, and pediatrics.
- Must have a valid North Carolina driver’s license and an operational vehicle.
