The Burlington School District is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and student-centered Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) to join our Student Support Services team. In this role, you will work alongside our Occupational Therapists and multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality occupational therapy services that help students access their education, achieve their IEP goals, and develop the skills needed for success in school and beyond. The position supports students with a wide range of physical, sensory, developmental, and educational needs through direct services, consultation, adaptive equipment, and assistive technology.


What You'll Do


  • Provide direct and consultative occupational therapy services to students in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans.

  • Collaborate with Occupational Therapists, educators, special educators, related service providers, and families to support student success.

  • Assist with occupational therapy screenings and evaluations.

  • Implement therapeutic interventions that develop fine motor, visual motor, sensory, self-care, communication, adaptive, social, and pre-vocational skills.

  • Utilize adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and accessible instructional materials to meet individual student needs.

  • Monitor student progress, maintain accurate documentation, and complete required reports and progress notes.

  • Serve as a resource for school staff and families regarding occupational therapy services and student supports.

  • Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and interdisciplinary collaboration across the district.

Minimum Qualifications


  • Associate's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.

  • Current National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification.

  • Current or eligible for Vermont Occupational Therapy Assistant licensure.

  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.

  • Two or more years of pediatric or school-based occupational therapy experience preferred.
